What is it about?

This publication deals with gas separation properties changed by tuned morphology of polysulfone membranes. For the first time we could show that very thin gas separation layers of several dozens of nanometers decrease diffusion coefficients and permeabilities for gases several orders of degree compared to bulky membranes of several micrometers.

Why is it important?

This study shows the change of material properties when the fabrication method of membranes is changed. These changes can be shown by gas permeation measurements as alternative to XRD or PALS.
