Why is it important?

Seventeen and twenty-three genera were isolated from patients and their indoor air samples respectively. Aspergillus, Penicillium, Alternaria, Ulocladium, Paecilomyces, and Cladosporium - a known allergen- have the highest prominence value. Also, yeasts are higher in patients than the normal individuals. Results showed that indoor airborne fungi are a probable reason for infection in the individuals studied sample.

Perspectives

The study gave information about the indoor air fungal community. It also clarified the differences between the upper respiratory fungi in healthy people and patients with asthma and allergies.
