If different objects are repeatedly perceived together, then when later on only one of them is presented for perception, the other can be also experienced even though it is not actually present. This paper reviews respective studies from our lab. Basically, one of the main prerequisites for these "normal" hallucinations is direction of attention away from the place where the hallucinated object ultimately appears.
