What is it about?
We know that more treatments are available, and will have greater effect, if people with acute stroke get to hospital as quickly as possible. With all the publicity and education about this over the past 20 years or so, we thought the time delays pre-hospital would be improving. However, when we reviewed the literature there is little or no evidence of this. Many factors may be the cause of this: our review picks up on a number of these.

A lot of time and effort and resources have been put into patient, community and health professionals education about this issue. This review should help trigger different ways of thinking and acting about the problem.
