What is it about?

Cylindrospermopsis is a bacterial genus of a single representative, but is frequently reported together with another filamentous Cyanobacteria, Raphidiosis. as its taxonomic classification was based on morphology, it is an open question. It did not yet have a genomic study considering the diverse characteristics as the different strain from different parts of the world.

Why is it important?

through the pan-genome technique, we try to provide new insights into the genotypic and phenotypic plasticity of the C. raciborskii species. Both strains may co-occur in nature in large populations, such as those formed during bloom events. C. raciborskii strains, without compromising their survival, are usually found in the smaller genomes of non-nitrogen-fixing. This comparative genomic analysis also successfully estimated the genetic diversity among C. raciborskii strains and the R. brookii D9 strain revealing the conserved core genome with major differences at the accessory genome levels.

Perspectives

We try to make an article that addresses better the issues of taxonomic classification and secondary biosynthesis of products that characterizes this genus, from a genomic point of view. Providing the reader with a material necessary for future comparisons and results. I hope the article becomes one of the essences in the study of Cylindrospermopsis.
