What is it about?

The study systematically reviewed climate change impact in the Niger Delta Region. Its variations have become an irreversible natural phenomenon. It impacts architecture, the built environment, and the well-being of dwellers, which requires mitigation.

Why is it important?

It employs building improvements and other system efficiencies to reduce emissions (GHGs), encouraging the government to take bold, ambitious climate action now, use energy efficiently, and encourage green commuting. Consume and waste less, Support Indigenous-led climate action, invest in renewables and divest from fossil fuels, eat for a climate-stable planet, better forestry management and sustainable agriculture, Sustainable buildings, Conservation-based solutions, Industrial solutions and emphasizes the use of eco-friendly materials, such as recycled, reclaimed, and rapidly renewable resources.

Perspectives

Scripting this article was very fulfilling as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations and a mentor. The article led to global peer-review journal editors contacting me and ultimately to more involvement in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborative research.
