Why is it important?

This paper investigates the political realities that pertain to the Arab Spring and Arab revolutions that took place in the last few years in Middle East in some Arab contemporary novels.

Perspectives

It specifically explores the manifestations of these events in the contemporary Arab novel, with much focus on Mostafa Khalifa‘s The Shell(2009), Ayman Otoom‘s They Hear its Whisper (2013), Nawal El-Saadawi‘s It is Blood (2014 ), Ibrahim al Koni‘s The Chivalry of Slain Dreams (2012). This analytical study traces the line of political and revolutionary thought since 2009 up until this moment. It also discusses the concept of revolution and its connection with civil wars. Moreover, the study shows the literary weakness that resulted from the political realities .
