What is it about?

Why is it important?

This is an understudied topic but lead-mining was one of Scotland’s few domestic industries. This lead was traded across Scotland and Great Britain, as well as to the Netherlands where it was used to produce delftware. It is clear that Scotland’s lead-mining was not insignificant and this paper is the first since the 1970s to pursue this topic.

Perspectives

I enjoyed combining mathematical calculations with this historical analysis. Obviously, we cannot get a better understanding of economic and industrial history without it. This paper also ignited my yearning to learn more about this topic (although I’m an architectural historian).
