What is it about?

This paper is an overview of the Andalusī production of qirāʾāt and tafsīr on the basis of the data provided by bio-bibliographical resources that have become recently available (‘Historia de los autores y transmisores Andalusíes/History of the Authors and Transmitters of al-Andalus’, or HATA and the Biblioteca de al-Andalus). It aims at providing an example of the wealth of information that such resources contain, while at the same time outlining the development of such genres in al-Andalus and offering a state-of-the-art assessment of the existing scholarship.
