This article draws on Bill Brown's 'Thing Theory' alongside more recent theoretical approaches to 'things' in order to investigate the filthy everyday items in Samuel Beckett's work.

Why is it important?

This is the first piece of research to utilise aspects of 'Thing Theory' in an analysis of Beckett’s work, and as such, the article sheds new light on Beckett's artistic and conceptual interest in the physical world.
