Why is it important?

Williams's friendship with Eliot started earlier and was arguably more important than that with the Inklings, apart from C. S. Lewis. Recent biographies and publication of letters have made it easier to trace its development.

Perspectives

Although Williams is much less known than Eliot, the Inklings or W. H. Auden, he is both worth studying in his own right and for his influence on others.
