What is it about?
The movie and novel Mosquito Coast highlights the character of Allie Fox who displays the characteristics of Nietzsche's philosophical notion of "bad conscience". The tragic consequences of this character's attempts to recreate civilization under the leadership of such super heroes are clear in both the novel and the movie.

Why is it important?
It is important to understand, through characters in literature as well as characters in real life, the consequences of following through on Nietzsche's proposal for the re-organization of civilization under the leadership of those who he describes as strong and powerful, taking it from the weak.
Perspectives
This collaborative project allowed both a philosopher and an English professor to benefit from each other's unique and important individual perspectives and knowledge on the writings of Nietzsche. Such examples of interdisciplinary collaboration produce results that could not have occurred had either writer produced a piece through the perspective of their individual disciplinary education.
