What is it about?

Dance is considered as one of the essential ingredients of the opera, and we analyze how, at different scales, thanks to its ability to adapt, this art succeeded to bring the public to opera again and again all along the 18th century, providing changes in the conception of the opera itself.

Why is it important?

Originality is to consider not only the books and musical scores, but also the role of the "acteurs de la danse", taking into account their place in the Royal Academy of Music but also the impact of rivalries between different theaters. The structure of entertainment, dance styles and personal interpretations are analyzed.

Perspectives
