What is it about?

Aggregates are important components in every day construction works. The longevity, robustness and structural integrity of every construction depends largely on aggregates. We therefore evaluated the physical and mechanical properties of rock aggregates from selected Quarries in Bono Region of Ghana. Samples of rock products from these quarries were subjected to a series of laboratory tests to determine their physical, mechanical and geometrical properties.

Why is it important?

The rock aggregates from selected Quarries met all the physicomechanical requirements for use as aggregates for crushed rock subbase, base and surface dressing for pavements.

Perspectives

We hope this results will serve as a guide to contractors and other developers in the selection of rock aggregates for engineering works in Ghana.
