What is it about?

Little is known about the ecology and behaviour of southern Australian bottlenose dolphins off the metropolitan waters of Adelaide, South Australia. We use habitat modelling to identify important dolphin areas (hotspots), and use behavioural data to investigate the potential ecological importance of these hotspots. Results indicate that that dolphins have a seasonal distribution along the coast, and that prey likely influences these movements.
