What is it about?
This review explains how severe COVID-19 can disturb normal blood clotting and increase the risk of deep-vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke and other arterial events. It summarises proposed mechanisms, the role of inflammation and endothelial injury, laboratory markers such as D-dimer, and approaches to screening, prevention and management.

Why is it important?
Clotting complications can contribute to organ failure and death in severe COVID-19. Recognising high-risk patients and monitoring coagulation markers can support timely prevention and treatment, while highlighting questions that still require stronger evidence.
Perspectives
From my perspective, this work matters because Clotting complications can contribute to organ failure and death in severe COVID-19. I hope the findings support further research and informed, evidence-based decisions.
