Why is it important?

Variety adoption study is important to judge the impact of the government's intervention on rice R and D and also to relate with food security

Perspectives

The paper provides an outline of modern rice variety adoption rate in the two rice districts of Wangdue and Punakha in West-Central region of Bhutan. It presents a brief information on the types of varieties grown by the farmers and their extend of spread within the blocks (sub-districts) of the districts. It some how captures the impact of the technical interventions under taken by the government agencies as part of rice commodity development programme and could be an important source of reference for food security and policy issues.
