Hb-E â thalassemia is a major congenital hematological disease of Bangladesh. The patients have poor growth and delayed maturation mainly due to iron overload but zinc deficiency also has been suggested as a contributing factor.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also lead to disease groups contacting me and ultimately to a greater involvement in disease research.
