What is it about?
Heart disease particularly disease of heart vessels is an increasingly important medical and public health problem. Besides well known risk factors and ethnicity, a number of emerging risk factors may explain the undue prevalence of disease of heart vessels which can lead to heart attack. Periodontal disease that is, the disease of teeth and gums is one of them. In fact, dental diseases and heart diseases share some common risk factors including diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Presence of dental disease can increase the risk of heart attack. So, maintenance of good oral health may prevent heart disease.
