What is it about?

Traditional villages reflect the integration of cultures and the cooperation between man and nature, holding historical, cultural, artistic, scientific, and social values. The Minjiang River Basin in southeastern China is rich in such villages, embodying Fujian culture. This research introduces landscape gene similarity to evaluate village landscapes, reducing subjective judgment and increasing accuracy. 111 traditional villages in the basin were studied, leading to the creation of a landscape gene map. Villages are divided into 9 landscape regions and 4 sub-regions, influenced by natural conditions, culture, and socio-economic factors. Future research will analyze historical events affecting village development.
