What is it about?

It involves the determination of the local geometric geoid model of Kampala in Uganda by comparing three plane geoid surfaces to obtain the suitable surface for application in the study area.

Why is it important?

Geoid models are applied to convert ellipsoidal or theoretical heights to practical or orthometric heights. So, with the local geoid model of Kampala, Uganda determined with the geometric method, the GPS/GNSS ellipsoidal heights can easily be converted to practical heights in the study area.

Perspectives

Determining the local geoid model of the study area enables the conversion of ellipsoidal heights to orthometric heights. Also, comparing three different geometric geoid surfaces enables a very high resolution geoid model be determined for the study area.
