What is it about?

The work identified the main soil types of the Archedinsko-Don sandy massif and their place in the classification of soils in Russia in 2004 (8), as well as in the international abstract database of soil resources WRB-2014 (update-2015). Object. The object of research is the soils of the Archedinsko-Don sandy massif. Materials and methods. During the writing of this article, three different soil classifications were used. The description of the morphological features of soils was carried out using the field guide for soils of Russia in 2008 and the FAO [8]. The names are given in accordance with the Classification and Diagnostics of Soils in Russia in 2004 and the international classification WRB-2014 (update 2015) [12]. Results and conclusions. On the basis of the conducted route-field and remote sensing studies, the main types of sands of the Archedinsko-Don sandy massif with dominant soil types were identified. Lighthumus soils (Arenosols) are most widespread within the massif. Dark humus soils (Phaeozems) are located mainly on the high third terrace of the r. Archeda. The landscape complex, represented by overgrown depressions, ancient streams with hydromorphic alluvial dark-humus soils (Mollic Fluvisols) in combination with dark-humus stratozems (Arenosols (Humic)) and light-humus soils, is expressed on the territory of the massif in separate areas along closed depressions between rounded or elongated formations. The soil cover of the Archedinsko-Don sands is represented by soils of different ages, formed in different phases of deflation. A comprehensive study of the soils of the Archedinsko-Don sandy massif is very important for the purposes of the economic use of sandy lands, since they have a high ecological and economic potential.
