Why is it important?
Under the primary assumption that the scientific terminology of historical science in Germany are still to be developed, the organization and communication of historical knowledge are impaired. A possible way to scientify history is seen in evolutionary epistemology. It makes it possible to capture the process of historical research, which mainly consists of textual interpretation, in terms of the already established textual sciences. As a textual science in dialogue with other textual sciences, this science of history could be called "historical semiotics". It focuses on the divergence of codes of historical and recent sign users and shows how the historical concept of truth should be questioned.
Perspectives
Following historical anthropology, historical semiotics tries to trace the dynamic and often contingent change of historical actors on the basis of written information carriers by means of linguistic concepts. It is perceived as another attempt to apply the ideas of Marc Bloch.
