Why is it important?
This sort of approach is sustainable and offers meaningful positive change under the control of local people who decide what change is needed and how best it can be delivered.
Perspectives
The role of westerners is demoted to that of advisers and collaborators, rather than requiring control and leadership. This describes a truly amalgamated approach to the benefit of all concerned. The authorship and references demonstrate an appropriate range of gender and racial influence, and describes our actual lived experience.
