What is it about?

Safinamide has a double-mechanism of action, dopaminergic and non-dopaminergic. With this innovative activity, safinamide is effective not only on motor symptoms of PD, but even on some non-motor symptoms. In this paper we showed the long-term efficacy of safinamide on mood disorders, present in 30-40% of the Parkinsonian patients.

To confirm the efficacy of safinamide in modulating the abnormal glutamate release and its positive effects on mood and depression in PD patients.

Perspectives
