What is it about?
LPG utilization in Nigeria has been reported to be below 20%. One of the reasons for this low utilization has been attributed to the distribution bottlenecks. This study proposes two additional distribution outlets to effectively distribute LPG across fourteen major cities in the country, using an optimization routine model, in a cost effective manner, thereby increasing the availability of LPG for greater utilization.

Why is it important?
This study highlighted a 25% reduction in cost of trucking LPG to Fourteen cities across Nigeria, using the the proposed distribution outlets, as against using the facility in Lagos alone.
Perspectives
This study showed the need for having multiple LPG distribution outlets. It showed that LPG trucking costs to cities in the Northern section of the Country, were more expensive than to cities in the southern parts. As a result there is a need to have major distribution outlets in the Northern parts of the country to reduce LPG transportation/ landing costs.
