What is it about?
Studying the precise anatomical regions in which electrical brain stimulation evoked experiential phenomena (mainly complex hallucinations and illusions), the authors found that complex visual hallucinations could be elicited over widespread cortical regions spanning all lobes of the right hemisphere but only rarely over the left occipital lobe.

Why is it important?
These results offer some insights into lateralized differences in functional connectivity that may be used for presurgical functional mapping of the designated surgical area in patients with epilepsy.
