Why is it important?

The methylation of MGMT promoter is the most important genetic marker for the predicting the response for the standarad treatment including concurrent chemoradiotherapy using temozolomide for the glioblastomas. The ability of controlling the expression of MGMT epigenetically can improve the response for the standard treatment of glioblastomas.
