Why is it important?
Our study tried to promote the use of deep brain stimulation in early phase which was not used before like for the patients after several months in vegetative or minimal conscious state.
Perspectives
The patients in vegetative or minimal conscious state do not have many options of therapy which could improve the level of consciousness. There is still no scientifically proved method which helps us to find out which patient is in a permanent state and who is suitable candidate for the therapy. It seems that somehow these patients are abandoned from the society and healthcare system.
