What is it about?

There is controversy in many academic institutions as to whether university teachers in disciplines that involve a lot of practice like performing arts, music etc should be required to publish in order to progress in their careers. Why is it important?

It is important in the sense that it gives a perspective to the debate and provides extensive arguments, both historical and contemporary to show that being a successful artist starts from being a successful arts theorist.

Perspectives
