What is it about?
This coedited book is an attempt at looking at recent migration in Europe from an interdisciplinary perspective, making the humanities and the social sciences work together. Our contributors come from diverse fields of expertise (e.g. literature, life writing, communication, film and media, linguistics, anthropology, arts...).

Why is it important?
It offers a unique opportunity to think about migration in Europe drawing from 4 conceptual keywords: performativity, border aesthetics, metaphor and chronotope. Besides, the chapters are even in regard to location, addressing the 4 main gateways into the continent. Finally, the 4 main parts in which the collection is assembled have genre as the main rationale, namely: testimonial narrative, media images and accounts, film, and the arts.
Perspectives
This was a huge undertaking for both my coeditor, Nelson, and myself. After first meeting in 2018, the book finally saw the light in 2022, with a pandemic in between. We all learned a lot from each other, and I'm forever grateful to have been involved in this project. Inspired by the power of first-person storytelling in the context of migration, I continue to write and do research in that field.
