What is it about?

This artical about black huomr in al-Jahiz's work “al-Tarbīʿ wa al- tadwīr” This study attempts to investigate the relationship between the body and the burlesque regarding three aspects: (1) The theoretical aspect of the concept of humor literature in al-Jāḥiẓ’s critical approaches. (2) The function of the body as a subject of humor. (3) The effect of the stylistic form and the rhetorical and theological aspects on .generating laughter through the burlesque.

Why is it important?

Humor is considered of central importance in al-Jāḥiẓ’s works, which present the image of ʽAbbāsid society. There is a research gap represented in the lack of recent studies which cover the use of humor in al-Jāḥiẓ’s works based on modern studies that depend on an intertwining of modern linguistics and literary studies

Perspectives

This study would be be a new approach to analysis with black humor in classical Arabic prose.
