What is it about?

Discovery of any new carbon nano-structure and it is destined to be investigated as potential reinforcing agent in polymers. You can see thousands of papers on CNT/Polymer, CNF/Polymer(this may be in 100s), Graphene/Polymer nano-composites and ofcourse many review articles... Now coming to this work, is graphene bio-degradable? This is still a open question.. A quick glance at published literature shows that some strains of bacteria can cause partial biodegradation of graphene oxide, some papers showed that GO is not biodegradable and one ridiculous paper showed crumbling of GO in presence of bacteria. My aim in this study is to investigate fate of graphene if it is used as filler in biodegradable polymers.. and was quiet surprised by the result.. even after weeks in soil.. where almost all PHBV degaraded, I could see graphene sheets.
