What is it about?

This article develops custom SPSS dialogs using syntax to perform multivariate one- and two-sample tests with Hotelling’s T2, enabling users to analyze such data easily when SPSS GUI lacks these features.

Why is it important?

This work is important because it fills a gap in SPSS by providing accessible tools for multivariate one- and two-sample testing, especially Hotelling’s T2 tests, which are not directly available in SPSS’s GUI. This enables researchers without programming skills to perform advanced analyses accurately and easily.

Perspectives

Integration of these custom dialogs into future official SPSS releases by IBM to expand native analytic capabilities. Encouraging broader use and acceptance of advanced multivariate tests like Hotelling’s T2 in SPSS user community. Extending similar dialog tools for other statistical methods currently missing from SPSS GUI may improve accessibility and analysis accuracy. Fostering future research to develop user-friendly extensions that bridge gaps in popular statistical software. Enhancing training and support resources to help non-programming researchers utilize advanced statistical testing efficiently.
