Why is it important?

There are very few reports of use extracorporeal life support (ECMO) in developing countries. This report gives insight into use of ecmo in Children following heart surgery in Nepal.

Perspectives

ECMO is a life support system. Its use in resource constrained setting is limited due to high cost. It can still be a life saving measure. Money should not cost as much as a life!
