What is it about?

Recreational fishing is a multi billion $ enterprise worldwide. The value chain analysis of recreational fishing might be useful to provide job opportunities to local native fishers communities as well as might help in conservation of native fish stock to some extent. The paper describes how such objectives of livelihood enhancement of poor fishers and conservation of native fishes could be possible using the value chain approaches.

Perspectives

The present paper is based on experiences gained by the first author working together with fishers communities and natural resources conservation. The present paper has the perspective to be a tool to conserve aquatic resources and promote livelihood approaches of fishers communities mostly living in vicinity of rivers and lakes resources depending on fishing since time immortal.
