What is it about?

Mountainous streams and rivers in the Himalaya have highly variable flows and sediment loads. There is a clear seasonal and anthropogenic influence on both of these aspects of streams in the mid-hills of Nepal.

Why is it important?

Knowledge on stream flow and sediment concentrations aid in effective management of mountain watersheds to minimize soil erosion, land degradation and their adverse downstream impacts.
