What is it about?

Cryptorchidism and hypospadias are common pediatric problems. We studied SRY and DAX1 gene abnormality in these children (n=51), but found only one child with SRY deletion.

Why is it important?

Multiple gene mutations can affect the phenotype with various malformations including involvement of genitalia.Further studies are needed to clarify these predispositions

Perspectives

Other gene defects can probably influence the presentation, and more research is needed in isolated cryptorchidism and hypospadias.
