Perspectives

In general the methods used to identify the protective effects of medicinal plants in preventing sugar-induced protein damage require expensive equipment. This paper describes how a simple technique can be used to demonstrate protective effects of medicinal plants on sugar induced protein cross-linking, where effects can be seen clearly with the naked eye. The results have demonstrated the validity of the method and the differences in the effectiveness of known antidiabetic plants in protecting body proteins. Some of the plants were found to be very effective.
