What is it about?

The generation of ox LDL has been linked to atherosclerosis. Patients with autoimmune disease have an increase probability of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. The aim of the study was to analyze the uptake of ox-LDL in monocytes from peripheral blood of SLE patients in order to propose a mechanism of atherogenesis

Why is it important?

It opens the question on different mechanism that would explain the increase in atherosclerosis risk in SLE patients.
