What is it about?

In the second century BCE two famines occurred in ancient Judea that had a serious and deleterious effect on the Maccabean Revolt against Seleucid rule. This paper utilises recent advances in climate science to shed new light on the causes and courses of the famines, as well as events of the Revolt era previously only glimpsed in Biblical sources and referred to by Josephus.
