What is it about?

After discussing research studies in neuroscience that challenge our understanding of human freedom, the essay articulates an understanding of freedom in times of neuroscience. First, the chapter situates freedom in context, with attention given to its complexity; second, it discusses critical approaches centered on essentialism, determinism and reductionism; third, it expands our reflection to include grace, a shared commonality, and natural law; and, fourth, it comments on selected examples by being attentive given to people's diversity, healing, and culture.
