What is it about?

"Conspiracy theory" is currently one of the most vibrant terms in the social sciences. Due to a disruption of traditional certainties in collective judgment, so-called conspiracy theories have successfully established themselves as vehicles and media for perception, interpretation, and appropriation in literature, film, series, social media, feuilletons, and after-work debates. Concerning is their potential for political agitation, insecurity, and often violence-legitimizing propaganda. This volume presents approaches to a critically social-psychological and sociological analysis of "thinking in conspiracies," addressing its cognitive, practical, and socio-cultural dimension(s) from an interdisciplinary perspective.
