What is it about?
The theme of the article is the similarities and differences in the pathogenesis among COPD, asthma, severe asthma and the ACO. It is a review of the current literature to investigate the common pathogenetic mechanisms among these medical conditions.

Why is it important?
The article contributes to the discussion about the obstructive pulmonary diseases like COPD and asthma - are they two different entities or they are one disease but with different clinical course and the ACO and severe asthma stand in between these two main nosological entities. It points out the new therapeutic options for these diseases.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a challenge for me because it reveals the similarities in the pathogenesis of these pulmonary obstructive diseases and points out the new molecules that could be targeted with the new biologic medications.
