What is it about?
This research is considered the first of its kind in this sector of the river for more than three decades and aims to evaluate the diversity, abundance, richness, and spatiotemporal variations of Cladocera within Samarra Impoundment water.

Why is it important?
The study showed that cladoceran density varied spatially and temporally in response to changes in limnological and hydrodynamic conditions, which were considered the most significant factors affecting it. Also, the average values of ecological indices, such as diversity, evenness, and richness, varied across sites and over time.
Perspectives
This study established baseline knowledge regarding Cladoceran densities and diversity in Samarra Impoundment water.
