What is it about?
In a randomised study, patients recovering from myocardial infarction received either a structured cardiac rehabilitation programme or usual care. Rehabilitation combined exercise and support for physical, psychological and social recovery. Participants receiving rehabilitation showed substantially better general health and heart-disease-related quality of life at follow-up.

Why is it important?
Cardiac rehabilitation is not routinely available after heart attacks in Pakistan. The results show that a structured programme can be implemented locally and can improve recovery and wellbeing beyond standard medical treatment alone.
Perspectives
From my perspective, this work matters because Cardiac rehabilitation is not routinely available after heart attacks in Pakistan. I hope the findings support further research and informed, evidence-based decisions.
