Resumo: Neste artigo analisaremos as transformações ocorridas na organização política do Estado do Brasil durante a segunda metade do século XVII. A partir dos regimentos de governo buscaremos reconstruir o quadro político e as discussões entre a Coroa e suas autoridades na América sobre a organização territorial das jurisdições. Abstract: In this article we will analyze the transformations that occurred in the political organization of the State of Brazil during the second half of the 17th century. Starting our analysis from the regimentos of government, we will seek to rebuild the political framework and the discussions between the Crown and their authorities in America about the territorial organization of the jurisdictions.
