What is it about?
This article is part of the debate on the nature of professions. Much literature discusses professions form the stanpoint of thier knowledge base. This article uses a case study from social work to highlight the role of power--particularly economic power--in constructing professional identity. The article thenr elates insights form the case study to debates in contemporary public administration, particularly debates regarding the roles of citizen participation.
