Why is it important?

1992 was a pivotal year, research on educator dispositions has shown them to be critical for fostering and retaining talented new teachers and their influence on students’ learning outcomes in the United States (Darling-Hammond, 2000; Gallavan, Peace, & Thomason, 2009; Muhammad, 2010; Wasicsko, 2010). However, based on this my experience in working in public schools, most school leaders are not aware of this trend. More importantly, awareness of educators dispositions are key to the overall educators ability to persist in challenging educational organizations and/or institutions.

Perspectives

It is my sincere hope that this article brings about awareness and the importance of valid and reliable instruments as it relates to the importance of assessing educator dispositions.
