What is it about?
This letter to the editor pointed out that the original article misreported the study results. As a result of this error by the original authors, the text of the article stated that PolyMem Silver was liver toxic, while in reality it was less toxic even than the placebo. The authors graciously replied, apologizing for their error and agreeing that the results were inaccurately reported.

Why is it important?
PolyMem Silver is made in such a way that microbes are pulled up onto and into the dressings to be killed there. It is not necessary for potentially cytotoxic silver to be released into the wound bed when PolyMem is used. The citations and the study authors agree that PolyMem Silver's ability to "lock" silver in the dressings explains why it is nontoxic when compared with other silver dressings.
